Why vote for Jeremy as your next MP?
After starting as a production foreman at Ford and qualifying as a chartered accountant, Jeremy has worked for 23 years in food and agricultural businesses in the UK and in Tanzania, where he and his family lived for 11 years.
He is also involved with a number of UK and international charities concentrating on education, young people and tackling poverty through enterprise and fair trade.
He has been a local councillor and currently serves as a primary school governor in Staffordshire. He has also served as a member of the independent Monitoring Board of a local Young Offenders' Institution.
He lives in Staffordshire in Keele where his wife Janet teaches at the Medical School as well as working as a GP in Stoke-on-Trent.
What are Jeremy's local priorities should he be elected?
"To work to help to restore full public confidence in Stafford Hospital. This is not simply a question of an independent public inquiry, which a Conservative Government would establish should it be elected; Stafford's MP also needs to keep in close touch with patients, relatives, management and staff to ensure that major problems are highlighted and quickly resolved.
To help tackle unemployment locally.
To work with all who want to see education standards constantly improving in our schools and colleges.
To support activities and clubs for young people. As a youth worker at my Church, I am very keen to see these thrive.
To see much more respite care available in Staffordshire.
To support our farmers and agricultre in Staffordshire. It is vital to our future.
To tackle the problems of transport and traffic congestion in and around Stafford; and to ensure that any new housing developments come with the necessary infrastructure."
